Introduction to Natural Indigo - Two day workshop
This two day workshop will be run by @wildheather_australia and hosted by Nomad Farms. Wild Heather is a textile studio run by maker Heather Thomas. Heather has been exploring the plant kingdom + the extraction of colour + working with natural fibres + plant colour for more than two decades and we are thrilled to be hosting her again at Nomad Farms.
You will learn how to make and maintain your own 20 litre natural indigo vat, yours to take home to continue dyeing with following the workshop.
Cost is $270 for two days.
cancellation policy - you can reschedule or cancel your booking up to 14 days prior to the workshop, in the event of needing to cancel within the 14 days you will be offered a place in a future course or you can send another person in your place. We aim to keep the group small and the cost of the workshop low to ensure you have the best experience, Heather’s interstate travel also comes at a cost and much planning hence requiring this cancellation policy.
Introduction to Natural Dyeing - Two day workshop
Join us for two days of deep immersion into the theory and practice of natural dyeing.
The workshop will be run by Verity Slee, co owner of Nomad Farms and Katherine Snoswell. We will take you through the theory of plant and fibre, preparation, mordanting, dyeing of wool and of course plant foraging, preparation and creating a dye bath. Particpants will create their own dye bath and dye samples of silk and wool. Participants will leave with the skills to make their own dye baths and dye fibres at home.
$250 pp for two days
Introduction to Indigo with Wild Heather

This two day workshop will be run by @wildheather_australia and hosted by Nomad Farms. It is for beginners and dyers looking to further their skills. Wild Heather is a textile studio run by maker Heather Thomas. Heather has been exploring the plant kingdom + the extraction of colour + working with natural fibres + plant colour for more than two decades and we are thrilled to be hosting her here at Nomad Farms.
You will learn how to make and maintain your own 20 litre natural indigo vat, yours to take home to continue dyeing with following the workshop. You will learn how to dye cotton cloth and Nomad wool yarn with indigo and experiment with some simple patterning techniques.
Cost is $250 for two days.
9am to 3pm both days.
BYO lunch. Morning and afternoon tea provided.

Come and visit! Nomad Farms will be opening our farm for a day of family farm fun. Tickets cost $25.00 per adult, 0-2 free and 2-16 yrs $5. Ticket price includes a great lunch by Billy Dohnt @Does catering, showcasing our pasture raised produce.
There will be tours of Nomad pasture raised chicken enterprise, Nomad cattle and sheep grazing management and naturally dyed fibre production. Learn what we do and why, and meet our team.
Gates open at 9:30am for a 10am start! The Brew Box will be serving up hot coffees from 9:30am, YES!
Please BYO water bottle, sturdy shoes and weather protection. If the weather is too wild, the day will be postponed. Tickets must be booked by 12th September for catering purposes. Tickets will be fully refunded in the event of min numbers for catering not reached and the event cancelled. Children are very welcome but please, they will need to be supervised as this is a working farm with hazards. There will be some produce for sale, including naturally dyed wool and pasture raised produce.
